The Community Action and Tenants Union (CATU) is a community-based union that works to defend the rights of members of the public who are privately renting, living in temporary accommodation, or in social housing, in particular. We defend members' rights at a person level, and when possible, we collectivise on an issue with a view to pressing for a change in policy or legislation. We also organise community events, often with food and music: Ar scáth a chéile a mhaireann na daoine; it is in the shelter of one another that we survive. CATU hopes for a world in which we place much greater emphasis on protecting the rights of one-another to live well.
