Emma Cassidy works for The Public Interest Litigation Support (PILS) Project, Northern Ireland’s dedicated public interest litigation organisation. Working directly with their NGO and solicitor members across Northern Ireland, PILS provide legal and financial assistance for public interest cases focused on human rights and equality issues (as well as a range of services to build these cases from the very beginning of a legal journey).

As PILS’ Project Officer, Emma leads the organisation’s communications work, spreading the word about the Project’s impact. She also coordinates PILS publications, events and manages PILS’ (now virtual) office. Before joining the project in 2018, Emma worked in the communications offices of LGBTI equality and access to justice NGOs based in Brussels, Budapest and Dublin. She had previously lived in Belfast while completing her LLM in Human Rights and Criminal Justice at QUB.
