Tina is an activist with the Lift The Ban campaign at PPR. She is seeking asylum and her name has been changed to protect her identity. She lives in Northern Ireland with her family. She and her family have been in the asylum system now for over five years. Asylum seekers are banned from working by the UK Home Office’s ‘hostile environment’ restrictions. Tina is the first known asylum seeker who has been able to access a voluntary clinical placement in Northern Ireland. There are many medically trained Asylum seekers who are banned from working.
